This weekend, College basketball fans will be glued to their TV or at their favorite watering hole for the Final Four Weekend! The first matchup will be a battle of the no. 2 seeded teams as Oklahoma takes on Villanova at 6:09PM ET on TBS.
The second matchup will take place between the no. 1 Seeded team, North Carolina and the No. 10 seeded team Syracuse at 8:49PM ET on TBS.
According to the polls and sports betting experts, the North Carolina Tar Heels are the favorite team to win the whole tournament but since this is March Madness, anything is possible.
Let’s take a look at the first of the Final Four Games when the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Villanova Wildcats.
Both teams are very similar in terms of strength and overall core perimeter but some believe that Villanova has a slight edge over Villanova because of their strong defense. Many sports handicappers believe that it’s all about having a solid defense when it comes to wining this yearly tournament and if that is the case, Villanova should come out ahead.
The bookies are giving Villanova a -2 point spread as they expect this to be a close game thanks to Buddy Hield, the 6’4” iconic guard of the Sooners, who has managed average 29.2 points per game since the tournament started.
However, Villanova does rank third in 2 pointers with a 56.3% scoring average and second in the nation for free throw at 78.4% completion.
This is in a way a revenge match for Villanova who was defeated back in December of 2015 by the Sooners during the Pearl Harbor Classic in Honolulu, HI. During the game Hield showed a subpar performance scoring 18 points out of 17 shots for a final score of 78-55.
So why are the sportsbooks giving the edge of winning to Villanova? It is probably because they are arguably the most impressive team for this tournament. They have faced very strong seeds during this tournament including the No. 1 overall seed, Kansas and defeated every one of them thanks to their amazing defense.
