The LA Lakers Looking for a New Head Coach

The LA Lakers Looking for a New Head CoachOnce again the Los Angeles Lakers are in need of a new head coach after Byron Scott was fired after the team decided to not exercise the option to keep him on for the 2017-16 NBA season.

Last Sunday, the official announcement was made by Mitch Kupchak, the General Managers of the Lakers that he would not be back as the head coach and thanking him for his work with the team.

For those who remember, two years ago Scott was hired to manage the final years of Kobe Bryant with the Lakers.  Even Scott did well handling Kobe, he had been criticized for not working enough with the new talent the team brought in.

The Lakers have not made the playoffs for the last three seasons despite being once one of the top NBA franchise.

This season was actually an all time franchise low for them with a 17 game record that many blame not on the coaching efforts of Scott but rather on management not able to acquire top not talent for the team.

Many critics of the franchise feel that hiring Kobe and having a retirement tour is what kept the franchise for having the budget to acquire better players.

In the meanwhile, the sportsbook reviews websites and sports handicappers alike are out guessing who will be the next head coach for the Lakers.

According to some sports betting websites, the smart money on who will be the next coach goes to Luke Walton.  Not only because he was a former Laker but because he has had much success with the Golden State Warriors while he was standing in for Steve Kerr.

Others feel that Jeff Van Gundy, formerly head coach for the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks is a good match for the team.  No matter who the next coach will be, a lot will be riding on him for being the coach that either brought the Lakers out of a slump or the person who drowned alongside the Lakers.
