The third week of the NFL regular season kicks off Thursday night when the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins. New York is still searching for their first win of the season, but despite that 0-2 record they have played pretty well so far and had the lead late in their games at Dallas and at home vs. the Falcons.
This online sportsbook likes the Giants' chances of earning that first “W”, having them listed as a 3.5 point favorite. It should be noted that this is Washington’s first road game of the season, and they were just 1-7 straight up on the road last year.
For the NFL Football betting enthusiast, there are a pair of huge favorites this weekend, with New England a big 13.5-point favorite at home against Jacksonville while Seattle is a monster 14.5-point choice at home against Chicago. The Patriots are off to a fast 2-0 start while the Seahawks are winless in two tries.
Minnesota rebounded from their awful MNF showing in week one to beat the Lions by 10 points last Sunday. We like the Vikings at home, and with a small 2.5-point line they won’t need to win by much to cover the number. Vikings were good at home last year and face a Chargers team that gave up 175 yards on the ground against the Bengals last week.
Johnny Football started in place of the injured Josh McCown, and led the Browns to a blowout win over the Titans. But McCown is back under center this week, as Cleveland is 3.5-point chalk at home against the Raiders.
Speaking of injured quarterbacks, Dallas will be without the services of Tony Romo for a couple of months. That is in addition to the loss of stud WR Dez Bryant and possibly the loss of TE Jason Witten (listed as questionable). Dallas acquired Matt Cassel from Buffalo, but it might be too soon to see him in action. Cowboys are a two-point underdog at home against a Falcons team that is off to a fast 2-0 start with wins against the Eagles and Giants.
Long break for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are coming off a miracle loss against Denver on Thursday and have to wait until Monday night to take the field again. Even worse, they face one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. The online sportsbooks love the Packers at home, having them as a big 7-point favorite.
The teams we are looking to back this week include the New York Giants, Minnesota, and Atlanta. We’ll be back next week to break down the NFL betting lines for Week 4.
